How To Get Your Website Setup With Google

The Importance of Google

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is basically the effort to get as much traffic to a website - through organic searches through search engines like google.

Google is the number one search engine, so we need to ensure the website operates optimally through google.

Every website we build at WEB/health comes with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It's equally important to get your website setup with google on the back end. We need to connect and authenticate these accounts.

Setting Up Google Accounts

We create various google accounts, all through one single google-login. The most useful accounts are:

  • Google Search Console
  • Google My Business
  • Google Analytics
  • Google AdWords
  • Google AdSense
  • Google Keyword Planner

*Disclaimer: If we host your website and domain, we can easily access these accounts and retrieve the appropriate data. If you as a client decides to host your own website, we will only be able to do these setups for accounts we have access to. You may need to do some of these steps on your own if you host your own website.

Connecting Your Google Accounts

Once you have your website complete (or at least close to complete and your google accounts made, it's important to actually connect those accounts.

Not only do you have a website and a google account, you need to connect these accounts on the back end. They are not physical hyperlinks your users see, these are snippets of code you get from google to implant on your website. These processes have to be done for each google service you use.

It's a way google can authenticate you actually own the website and you're 'allowed' to share data between the two.

The same will go for other accounts such as Instagram, Facebook, linked in etc - all of those platforms can link to your website as a means to increase SEO.

Here are a few things we do to connect/authenticate your website with google.

  1. Set up Google Console: copy the TXT record into the DNS configuration for your domain
  2. Set up Google Analytics: add google script to your head code of your website host
  3. Configure Sitemaps with Google: create an XML sitemap for posts, pages, products, categories and index with google console

Search Engine Optimization is Complicated

Search engine optimization is not one single effort - it's a combination of things you do to increase your visibility on google and other search engines.
